Interim Deputy Headteacher (Teaching and Learning)

Bettridge is a Special School for pupils aged 2-19 who have a wide range of learning difficulties ranging from moderate to profound.  Many have challenging behaviours and complex medical needs.  A focus on empowering and supporting pupils to achieve the best possible outcomes is central to the role of all staff members.    

Bettridge School is seeking an inspirational Deputy Headteacher to lead teaching and learning across our school for the Autumn term, with a potential for this role to continue if required by the school. This is an exciting opportunity to drive curriculum development, quality assurance, and staff professional development while working collaboratively with our headteacher and senior leadership team.

You will work alongside a range of key stakeholders, including effective Line Management of Assistant Headteachers, SENCo, and the pastoral team. You will work collaboratively with Assistant Headteachers and Curriculum Subject Leaders to plan strategically for their areas of leadership responsibility, including ensuring effective monitoring and evaluation. 

We’re looking for an experienced leader with strong communication and coaching skills who is committed to inclusive practice and high expectations for all learners. Health Needs TA 1:1 x 2 (separate pupils)

Fixed Term 1 Year, in the first instance

Grade 7 (Point 21) £33,143 p.a. pro-rata

We are seeking to appoint two Health Needs Designated Teaching Assistants to support two individual pupils. The persons recruited will work as part of a class team at Bettridge School.  The new Teaching Assistants will be given full training for the specific health needs of the individual child. Their priority will be to co-ordinate with the team to provide 1:1 care for the individual child’s health needs. The Teaching Assistants will be required to liaise with Medical professionals and parents. 30 hours per week, 8.45am-3.15pm with half an hour unpaid lunch.

 We are looking for staff who are resilient and flexible and have the ability to work as part of a team to promote a love of learning for all our young people across all ages, abilities and needs within the school.

Teaching Assistant – Pastoral Support

 Fixed Term Post – One academic year in the first instance

Grade 5 point 11 (£28,142 p/a pro rata) Actual Salary approx. £20,398.00

We are seeking to appoint an experienced Teaching Assistant for 31.25 hours per week, Monday-Friday 8.45am – 3.30pm, 39 weeks (term time plus inset days). To commence September 2025. Annual salary is approx. £20,398.00. This is a fixed term contract for one academic year in the first instance. You will be a part of the Pastoral team and supported with your work. The successful candidate will be able to work with flexibility and enthusiasm as part of a multi-professional team. Preference will be given to candidates with recent working knowledge and experience of pastoral interventions in a special needs school setting.

SUPPLY LETTINGS CARETAKER

 Permanent – Grade 2 Point 3

 Example of Hours :

Weekdays : 3pm – 9.30pm

Weekends:  7.30am – 6.30pm

Half an hour unpaid lunch. Hours may be flexible depending on lettings booked. (Saturdays are paid at time and a half, Sundays are paid at double time).

Bettridge is looking to appoint an honest, reliable and committed individual to fill this post.  The post holder will be required to work under the line management of the Site Manager and the School Business Manager.

The work involves opening the school and monitoring the premises, dealing with lettings and external users of the building during periods of hire, cleaning of areas used, management of parking and security of the building and cleaning of other areas of the school when lettings are not taking place as directed by the Site Manager.  Attention to security is very important to ensure there is no unauthorised access during the hire period.

Lettings consist of pool hire, soft play parties and hall/other room hire with some very busy periods so good interpersonal skills and a head for multi-tasking are essential.  Applicants need to be versatile and enthusiastic.  A flexible approach is required on occasions throughout the year including being able to cover on an ad hoc basis, if necessary, on evenings and weekends.

Supply Teaching Assistant

Grade 4 point 7-10 (£24,294-£25,545 pro rata)

We are looking for enthusiastic Teaching Assistants who are available to cover for staff absence at short notice on a daily basis and are able to work a full day, 8.45am-3.15pm.

You could be working anywhere within the school for general class support. Qualifications are not essential, however, experience/interest with pupils with complex special educational needs would be an advantage.

Disability Confident

Disability Confident is creating a movement of change, encouraging employers to think differently about disability and take action to improve how they recruit, retain and develop disabled people.

It was developed by employers’ and disabled people’s representatives to make it rigorous but easily accessible – particularly for smaller businesses.

The scheme is voluntary and access to the guidance, self-assessments and resources is completely free. There are three levels on the journey to become Disability Confident Employers. Bettridge are proud to announce they achieved Level 1 on 20th February 2020 and are accredited until February 2023.
